BODY FAT PERCENTAGE
This is a measurement showing how much of a person's bodyweight is muscle versus fat:
| Essential Fat: Men 2-4% | Women 10-12% |
| Athletic: Men 5-13% | Women 13-19% |
| Fit: Men 14-17% | Women 20-24% |
| Average: Men 18-24% | Women 25-30% |
| Overweight: 25-27% | Women 21-33% |
| Obese: Men 27% and up | Women 34% and up |
BODY MASS INDEX
This is a measurement showing the proportion of a person's height to weight. It does not take into account differences between muscle and fat.
| Normal: | 19-25 |
| Slightly Overweight: | 26-30 |
| Overweight: | 31-35 |
| Obese: | 36 and up |
RESTING HEART RATE
The more fit a person is, the lower his or her resting heart rate will be. The average healthy resting is usually around 70 beats per minute.
CHOLESTEROL
There are two basic types of cholesterol: HDL's (high-density lipoproteins) and LDL's (low-density lipoproteins). HDL's are a good form of cholesterol, while LDL's are a bad form of cholesterol.
The average healthy person has his or her HDL levels somewhere <200mg and >35mg. His or her LDL levels should be <130mg.
